Who am i?
Hi there! My name is Kingsley Lucas Lim and I have been teaching for the past 11 years. As a former teacher and tutor, my heart goes out to parents who have always had a difficulty finding the right tutor.
Is the tutor dedicated?
How many years of experience has he?
Can you guarantee the A star?
Has he got a list of successful students?
What kinds of methodology does he use?
Is he skilled in Heuristics?
Does he teach math Olympiad stuff?
Surely, you have asked many of these questions to some of the possible tutors you have interviewed.
Well…
One thing is for sure. I am not the oldest teacher out there but with 11 years of teaching experience, both in classroom and one on one, I believe that I have the necessary experience to make your child excel and get the A or A star.
With regards to students that I have had, they range from very weak to excellent. And for 2010, all my students have improved without a doubt. Some students make the jump from fail to A star while some students made the jump from the 50s to 80s and never improve. Some made the jump from fail to pass. In other words, you can expect improvement but I cannot guarantee you the A star. You have my word that I will put in my utmost best to bring the best out of your child. Any tutor that guarantees you A star is hogwash!
And the truth is it is for the child to do well, it takes tripartite effort in the sense that the parents, child and tutor all put in effort.
With regards to the teaching methodology and whether I teach in accordance to the syllabus, you can be assured that I teach authentic heuristics, methods, model drawing, guess and check, listing, patterns, maths Olympiad type questions and all various types of questions commonly found in school papers today. Please take a look at the videos that I have posted that’s free of charge and let your child try some of the questions found there.
What you can reasonably expect from me?
While I cannot guarantee you anything, it is my experience that students improve from by approximately 10 marks per exam. I think to me, that is reasonable to expect that. Results will vary. Some students make a tremendous jump while some improve by only 5 marks. The majority of my students have been able to show improvement. In fact all of my students for 2011 have shown improvement.
Of course, you can expect my heart and soul when it comes to teaching your child. I give my 100% each time I teach.
What if my child is very weak?
If your child is very weak, when I have the time, I might give extra and individualized time but the timing must accommodate my schedule.
